Welcome to "Who Are You?"
Below, I've selected items that will give you an idea of how WRU was presented and received. I've also included a public radio interview with WAMC that you can click on to hear.
This project really tugs at my heart strings; I truly fell in love with my subjects. Sadly though, I've had to dig deep--be brave--because many of them have since passed on. Yet I'm thankful that I took the time to be a part of these peoples lives, to honor their wisdom and to feel the essence of who they are.
For the past four years, it's been my pleasure to bring my vision of this project to nearby communities and associations. Yearly, I give my PowerPoint presentation and show my photographic prints to a local high school class. Afterwards, Ms. Way, a teacher who was inspired by the project, assigns a similar project to her students. A few months later, it culminates into a fun and educational photo exhibition.
WRU is still alive inside me and I hope to continue photographing and getting to know people in this unique way.
The show travels to Ballston Spa, NY, in 2010.
First, to the historic Brookside Museum and then to Maplewood Manor where some of my subjects lived. Both venues were a blessing and I was honored to share my work with so many people.
